My Story
I was born and raised in Korea and moved to Hawaii when I was 8 years old. At that time I did not speak any English. My mother who in Korea had a well-respected job of being a teacher, now found herself working numerous minimum wage jobs to support her family also due to her lack of speaking English. But eventually through her hard work and being very frugal (such as cutting napkins in half and re-using foil over and over until there were holes in them), she eventually saved enough money to buy herself a home.
I made it through school and eventually went to college and received a degree in Asian Studies. With no jobs available using my degree, I worked as an insurance agent for about a year. About that same time I got my real estate license and worked for a local developer who built a condominium on Ala Wai Blvd. I was one of the top agents at that time and with the commissions that I earned from that project, I bought my first house in Utah where I went to graduate school and returned to Hawaii soon after. After I came back to Hawaii, I worked for a major developer and was one of the top sales agents for the project and sold 50 units. The developer ran into financial difficulties and the bank took the project back. Two and a half years of work produced no commissions.
Then Opportunity Knocked
In 1981 I did my first consulting job on a small property in Makiki. It was 6 homes on a small lot. It was my first CPR project. The homes sold for $80,000 each. I had made more money doing this small project than what I was making as an accountant. After a discussion with my wife, I quit being an accountant and went into real estate full time. After all…I had 4 children to support at the time, which later expanded to 6 children.
That was over 25 years ago. And at that time, I wasn’t a Real Estate agent, lawyer, or rich investor…..I started out as an accountant. Since then I’ve personally developed over 120 properties. I’ve made millions and have lost millions and now, have developed a System to buy, develop and sell Hawaii Real Estate quickly and as Risk-Free as possible!
